Redmi A4 5G India price and specifications leaked ahead of launch

At the otherwise drab India Mobile Congress (IMC) this year, the most interesting announcement was the unveiling of the Redmi A4 5G smartphone, which will be powered by the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chipset. The phone’s announcement was a part of a partnership between Qualcomm and Xiaomi, as a result of which, the Chinese smartphone brand is launching its first 5G Redmi phone that will be priced under Rs 10,000. The price category for the phone was confirmed by Xiaomi.
The company also confirmed that the commercial launch of the smartphone will take place “later this year”. An official launch date has yet to be revealed. However, ahead of the launch of the phone, the price and specifications of the Redmi A4 5G have leaked.
The Redmi A4 5G will reportedly launch in a single variant with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage option, which is believed to be priced at Rs 8,499. This was first reported by Smartprix. This isn’t the launch price; it includes bank and launch offers.
The Redmi A4 5G is expected to feature a 4nm Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chipset. Reportedly, it will feature a 6.7-inch HD+ IPS LCD with a 90Hz refresh rate. We got the chance to take a sneak peek at the device at the IMC 2024, and we had also estimated that the phone sports an approximately 6.7-inch display.
Further, rumours suggest that the phone will feature a 5,000mAh battery with support for 18W charging.
In terms of cameras, the Redmi A4 5G is believed to include a 50-megapixel main rear camera with an f/1.8 aperture, accompanied by an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. It is anticipated to run on Android 14, layered with the HyperOS 1.0 interface. For security, the phone is expected to have a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and a USB Type-C charging port.
While we didn’t get to use the device, when we sneaked a peek at the device we found that it features a sleek design with flat edges, rounded corners, and a circular camera module at the rear, which houses a dual-camera system featuring a 50-megapixel primary sensor. This might make it the highest-resolution camera phone available for under Rs 10,000.
Additionally, the device includes a 3.5mm headphone jack positioned on its top edge. It is confirmed that the phone will launch in two colour options: black and silver.
